Microdermabrasion

Troubled by signs of dull skin?

Microdermabrasion is a chemical free, non-invasive treatment to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and reveal the healthier younger looking skin beneath.

A diamond tip on a wand where suction through the vacuum is created are effective for removing the top layer of skin thereby removing the primary cause of dull, sallow looking skin - it helps return your skins natural glow and feel!

Additionally by removing the top dead layer of skin (with no downtime) microdermabrasion provides more effective and even absorption of your skin care products - they will actually get to the levels of your skin where they're needed the most.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes blocked pores?

Oil, dirt and debris: when oil from your sebaceous glands, dirt and dead skin cells get trapped inside a pore, it can lead to clogging.

Is Microdermabrasion good for the skin?

Microdermabrasion is safe and effective for all skin types. The exfoliating diamonds are very fine and wont cause damage to your skin. Since microdermabrasion requires no incisions or anaesthesia, there's no risk for scarring or infection. The treatment is painless and takes less than an hour.

What happens after the treatment?

You can expect to see some redness to your face which will fade quickly. You can wear make-up after your treatment but we recommend waiting 12 hrs. If you do wear make-up in that time frame, mineral make-up is suggested as this is less likely to cause irritation.

When will I see the results?

Microdermabrasion treatment has very little recovery time so you will notice the results the same day. Some clients with sensitive skin will notice their skin will appear flushed after a session oof microdermabrasion. This is just your body's way of responding to increased circulation not skin irritation.

How often should I have microdermabrasion?

The frequency of treatments depends on your specific skin type, skin conditions and goals, but generally we recommend a microdermabrasion treatment every 2-4 weeks for 3-6 months, and then every season, as this maintains your results, good skin and health, and keeps your skin glowing.

Microdermabrasion side effects?

Microdermabrasion is safe and most of the microdermabrasion side effects are either very short lived, or aren't experienced when microdermabrasion is completed by a skilled technician who has assessed your skin type carefully.

The most common side effects are simply a little redness and tenderness immediately after the treatment. The vast majority of people find that this goes down within an hour to two. Occasionally there may be some bruising from the suction process, but the technician should take care to avoid this.

Those with particularly sensitive skin, or very severe acne, may need to take particular care to avoid irritation. Microdermabrasion isn't recommended if you have a skin condition such as eczema, rosacea, psoriasis or herpes. You shouldn't have microdermabrasion done if you've currently got sunburn or any open sores.
